6 Things You Need to Know About Brazilian Laser Hair Removal (2024)

Imagine having smooth skin, all year round, all the time. Say goodbye to shaving and painful wax appointments and say hello to long-lasting, hair-free, smooth skin. Laser hair removal is one of the most popular services offered at Aesthetica Medical Spa. A Brazilian laser hair removal, one of the many areas we treat, can significantly decrease, or completely remove, pubic hair.

1. What’s included in a Brazilian laser hair removal?

Brazilian laser hair removal targets all hair growing around the pubic region, from the front to all the way to the back. If you choose, you can always leave any hair left behind that you don’t want gone such as a neat strip, triangle, or any custom design you wish. If you are looking to only remove hair that is exposed outside your bikini, you can opt in for a bikini line laser hair removal.

2. Can men get a Brazilian laser hair removal?

Yes! A “manzilian” is what we typically call a male Brazilian laser hair removal. A manzilian thus removes hair in the genital area from the front to the back, which includes everything including, shaft, scrotum, intergluteal cleft, and everywhere else in between.

3. Do laser Brazilians or manzilians hurt? What can I expect?

Laser hair removal in general can be uncomfortable, but it’s tolerable and a lot less painful than waxing. Each laser Brazilian or manzilian session takes no more than 20 minutes. The closest description of how laser hair removal feels is feeling like you’re being snapped by a rubber band. If you’re anxious about the pain, we can prescribe a topical anesthetic that you can apply 30-minutes prior to your appointment to ease the pain and discomfort. 4. How do I prepare for my Brazilian laser hair removal or my manzilian?

You can shave as often as you want/need, but plucking and waxing hair should be avoided for 6 weeks before your treatment. Additionally, sun exposure, bed tanning, and spray tanning should be avoided for 2 weeks before and after your laser hair removal appointment. Some oral medications, specifically antibiotics, as well as topical retinoids in the area being treated should be avoided for 2 weeks prior to your appointment as both make your skin sensitive to light. Let your Laser Technician know of any medications you are currently taking and your skin regimen to avoid unwanted side effects.

Feel free to gently exfoliate the area being treated 24-48 hours before your appointment, and shave and shower at least 24 hours prior to your laser hair removal, including for a Brazilian laser hair removal. We will provide wipes to wipe away any lotions and deodorant. If you have any questions, our Laser Technicians can answer them during your consultation, before, or after your actual Brazilian laser hair removal appointment.

5. Are there aftercare instructions following my Brazilian laser hair removal or manzilian?

Some patients will begin to see hair falling out and slower growth just after their first session, however, for most patients, they’ll begin seeing results in 4-6 sessions. At Aesthetica, we recommend 12 treatments for optimal results spread out 4-6 weeks apart. Our Laser Technicians recommend our patients the following after their Brazilian laser hair removal session:

  • Apply the aloe vera soothing gel provided by our Medical Spa to cool the skin after your treatment
  • Avoid exercising for the next few days, saunas, and hot showers or baths
  • Use a gentle, mild soap to wash the area treated
  • Gently exfoliate the treated area to avoid ingrown hairs and to remove dead skin cells
  • Avoid waxing and plucking the area
  • Avoid swimming or coming in contact with chlorine
  • Don’t expose the treated area to the sun

6. How much does a manzilian or Brazilian laser hair removal cost?

The cost for a Brazilian and manzilian differ and the cost depends on if you’re purchasing a single treatment or package. Single treatments start at $150 and packages start at $128.
