Does Chase process checks on Sunday? ›

If we receive your deposits after 11 PM Eastern time, you'll immediately be able to see the transaction in your account, but we'll process it the next business day. A business day is every day except Saturday, Sunday, and federal and state holidays.

Bank hours

Most Chase branches are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with additional limited hours on Saturday. Chase branches are generally closed on Sundays and federal holidays.

Holidays and weekends don't count as business days, so any request made around these times may take longer to process.

If you have a poor credit score, your bank could see you as higher risk, which can affect your eligibility for opening a new account.

The role of business days and holidays

But for checks and other items that might need verification (to protect you and the bank), the money usually won't be available until the next business day. It's important to realize that weekends and federal holidays don't count as business days, even if your bank is open.

Do banks process payments on weekends? Weekends are generally non-business days for banks. Payments received on weekends are generally processed on the next business day, Monday, unless it's a federal holiday.

Do checks clear on Saturdays? Business days don't typically include weekends or holidays. That means a check deposited Friday night after business hours will be treated as if it were deposited Monday morning (if it isn't a holiday). Some financial institutions may advertise extended business hours or days.

Understanding when your payment is processed

We'll post it Sunday evening. If you pay at least the minimum amount due between 8 PM and 11:59 PM Eastern time and today's your due date, don't worry: Your payment will still be on time.

What is a hold and why is it used? Banks place holds on checks to make sure that the check payer has the bank funds necessary to clear it. In addition to protecting your bank, a hold can protect you from spending funds from a check that is later returned unpaid.

For everyday transactions that may be pending, you'll likely see them processed within three to five business days.

How long does it take for a $30,000 check to clear? ›

Generally, it takes two to five business days to get all the funds from a check into your account. However, some factors might hold up the check-clearing process, like the status of your account or the place where you deposited the check.

Funds not available on the day of the deposit will typically be available the next business day, unless a longer hold is placed on the deposit.

Once approved, you have 90 days to set up a direct deposit directly to the new checking account. With the direct deposit confirmed, Chase promises to deposit your free $200 within 15 days automatically. It's that simple. The Chase Total Checking account does have a few requirements to avoid a $12 monthly fee.

Chime is an online-only fintech company that offers banking services through The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A. Its Second Chance Banking option boasts no monthly fees and no credit or ChexSystems check.

Check images are transmitted electronically to Chase for deposit, and those received by 9:00PM Eastern Time on a business day are processed the same day.

Banks are generally required by law to make the first $225 of a check deposit available by the next business day. For example, if the check is deposited on a weekend, it's considered to be deposited on Monday, so the first $225 of the check will be available on Tuesday.
