❤️Why you will love this recipe

  • Easy recipe: Whether or not you need to make syrup or use store-bought, this recipe is super easy! You don’t even need a coffee maker for this coffee-based drink!
  • Quick: It takes 5 minutes to make if you have the ingredients on hand, or 30 if you need to make the strawberry syrup.
  • Refreshing drink: This strawberry coffee recipe is the perfect drink on a hot day. Icy cool, sweet, and coffee to boost your energy levels when the heat makes you feel sluggish.
  • Simple ingredients: Strawberry syrup, coffee, and milk. That’s all!
  • Fun to look at: When you make this drink it has 3 distinct layers: red, white, and brown. When you mix it, it turns ombre. It’s so pretty!

🗝️Key Ingredients & Substitutions

Strawberry latte:

  • Espresso: One or two espresso shots are ideal for this iced strawberry latte recipe. If you don’t have a fancy espresso machine you can make very strong espresso coffee instead by using half of the water you would normally use to make coffee. You can also make French Press Espresso (this is what I did). Although these latter two versions are not true espresso (espresso needs pressure), it’s strong enough to get the job done. In a pinch, you can use a teaspoon of instant coffee and 1/2 cup of hot water.
  • Milk: Any kind of milk of choice! I usually use non-dairy milks like almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or soy milk but skim or whole milk would also taste delicious. Pro tip: I love frothing milk for this recipe. Cold milk (or “barista” milk) froths really well and makes it taste like super creamy milk. I used a handheld milk frother. They’re affordable and handy for many fancy drinks!
  • Strawberry Syrup: You can use either store-bought strawberry syrup or follow my easy instructions to make it yourself. It tastes so much better with real strawberries!
  • Ice: As this is an iced latte drink, you’ll need some ice to keep it nice and cold. You can use regular ice cubes, coffee ice cubes, or milk ice cubes.

Homemade strawberry syrup (optional, store-bought is fine too!):

  • Fresh strawberries: I used medium-sized strawberries, stems removed, and cut into quarters or sixths. I don’t recommend using thawed frozen strawberries as they’ll be mushy and will turn the syrup cloudy.
  • Honey or sugar: Either honey or sugar is great in this delicious recipe. They both create the right “syrupy” texture.
  • Water: You can use filtered water or regular tap water if it’s clean.
  • Lemon juice and vanilla extract: These two ingredients are optional but I like to add them to really bring all of the strawberry’s sweet and tangy notes out.

3. Simmer the strawberry mixture for 20 minutes.

4. Strain the strawberries with a fine mesh metal sieve or a slotted spoon into another pot or jar, taking care not to press down on the strawberries. This will turn the syrup cloudy. Top tip: Blend the discarded strawberries to make a fresh strawberry puree! Great on ice cream, toast, or pancakes.

5. Allow the syrup to cool completely before using. If you need it to cool quickly, pop the pot into an ice bath (be careful not to submerge it completely).
