Electrolysis can be performed safely on any age group from newborn babies to people over a hundred years of age.

At What Age Can Teens Get Electrolysis? Many clients ask us what is the earliest age a teen can get electrolysis treatments. Girls and boys as young as 12 years old are acceptable candidates for electrolysis treatments. The most important factor is whether or not their body or facial hair is done growing in.

Electrolysis works best when the hairs are in the active growing phase. For the maximum result we recommend not waiting more than two to three weeks once you have seen the new hair growth appear.

Electrolysis Cons

It's a time-consuming procedure requiring multiple sessions. Skin discoloration is a possibility. The electricity in the device can actually destroy the capillaries in the surrounding areas. It can be very painful. It is not recommended for people with rosacea since the skin is so easily irritated.

Patients with a history of heart disease, epilepsy, or seizures will need written permission from their GP or consultant before undergoing electrolysis. Pacemakers and similar implants will also need written permission, as electrolysis may interfere with the frequency.

However, it's important to remember – the results last forever. Indeed, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) consider electrolysis the only permanent hair removal method.

If You are Currently Shaving

Please do not shave for at least 24 hours (or more) prior to treatment. This provides just enough growth necessary for effective removal. Shaving is completely acceptable for the untreated areas after your electrolysis treatment. Clipping is suggested for the areas worked on.

Once you start Electrolysis refrain from plucking, waxing or threading. Any method that requires to pull the hair from the root will slow down your progress.
