Laser hair removalis a fast, safe, and effective way to permanently removeunwanted hairon the body. We use medical-gradelasersand advanced techniques for long-lastingsmooth skin for women and men with ALL skin tones and hair colours.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

The removal of unwanted hair has been a common practice for many centuries. From depilation (the removal of hair from above the skin surface) to epilation (the removal of the entire hair from beneath the skin surface), hair removal techniques continue to change and develop. The most advanced of these techniques is laser hair removal.

This revolutionary epilation method is faster than traditional methods, with smoother and more permanent results. Light or dark hair can be removed from virtually anywhere on the body, from the underarms and upper lip to legs, chest, bikini region, and more.

At our Skin Clinics, we perform laser hair removal using the advanced and award-winning Laser Machine-Soprano by Alma combined with a revolutionary technique called RMT (Repetitive Motion Therapy). Rather than high-level stamping techniques, we incorporate lower levels with more motion. This allows for a safer, less painful treatment experience and superior results. By incorporating multiple laser wavelengths and technologies, Alma Soprano allows us to treat the widest range of patients and hair types all year round, administer treatments quickly and comfortably, and achieve the best possible clinical results. We are also able to safely treat over natural and fake tan skin.

HOWLASER HAIR REMOVALWORKS

Laser hair removal targets the root and blood supply of the hair by emitting a singular colourless beam of light. The light is attracted to the pigment and blood supply in the hair follicle, then converts into heat which destroys and ablates the blood supply. Once we have successfully ablated the blood supply to the hair, the hair will no longer grow.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?

With all procedures, there are risks involved. Our Dermal Therapists take every precaution prior to each treatment to ensure you are suitable and safe to proceed before each appointment.

Post-treatment you may experience some side effects, including localised redness, pigmentation, swelling of follicles, heat sensation and skin sensitivity. In some cases, folliculitis can occur. To ensure your safety, you must follow our pre and post-treatment care at all times and ensure you disclose all required information to our Dermal Therapists to ensure a safe treatment.

ISLASER HAIR REMOVALPAINFUL?

The secret is, laser is not supposed to be painful! By incorporating RMT and the Alma Soprano Laser Technology, we have made the treatment more comfortable. You may feel some slight heat and a slight “flicking” sensation when the light is attracted to the pigment. Sensitivity can be affected by a few factors; however, the laser should not be painful and our highly trained Dermal Therapists will always ensure you are kept safe and comfortable.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Most clients require 8-12 treatments scheduled 6 weeks apart. In some cases where hair is thicker and in more prominent hormonal areas, we may advise to treat every 4 weeks. Of course, the total number of sessions required will be subject to the client’shair growth. Some clients may need a few more treatments, while others will require lesshair removal sessions. This is why it’s important you stick to the treatment plan developed by your therapist as the treatments must coincide with yourhair growthcycle.

We have 3 stages ofhair growthand not all hairs are in the active phase at one time, hence why we need several treatments. Each session, hairs will reduce and get finer and lighter. There are also factors that influence ourhair growthduring our life and this is why maintenance sessions are required. All of this will be discussed with you in yourfreeconsultation, and we will guide you through you treatment and results.

WHATSKIN TYPESDO YOU TREAT?

We use the Alma Soprano Titanium laser where we can treat all skin types and skin tones safely and effectively because of our treating method of RMT and incorporating the 3 wavelengths. It used to be contraindicated for those with darker skin tones because of the risk of increased side effects, laser hair removal therapy with our advanced laser is now considered an approved method of hair removal for any client.

WHAT HAIR COLOURS CAN YOU TREAT?

We are proud to be able to effectively treat ALL hair colours with our laser device including blonde and red hair and of course darker hair colours too.

WHAT AGE CAN YOU START WITHLASER HAIR REMOVAL?

There is no minimum age requirement for laser hair removal or IPL treatments. A client can be young as 12 years old if they have unwanted hair and wish to have it removed using a safe and permanent hair removal technique. We suggest that clients wait to have their course of treatments until after puberty as hormonal fluctuations can speed up the growth of body hair and affect the results.

The many benefits tolaser hair removalare making it one of the most in-demand cosmetic treatments performed. From light skin todark skin, laser hair removalcan:

  • Effectively remove unwanted hair
  • Reduce hair regrowth on all areas of the body
  • Reduce the thickness and colour of hair
  • Reduce current ingrown hairs and prevent new ingrown hairs from forming

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

Avoidsun exposure:Patients should avoid directsun exposurebefore they have theirlaser hair removaltreatment for at least 3 days. Even though we can treat tanned skins with our laser, we need to ensure we have no heat or sunburn in the area as this can increase undesired aftercare affects.

Avoid faketanningproducts:While we can safely perform the treatment overfake tan, we ideally prefer no tan in the area to be treated. The reason for this is we must treat according to the colour of your skin with the tan on. The most effective results are when you have nofake tanon so we can treat your naturalskin tone.

Avoid creams/lotions to the treating area:Please avoid applying any oils, creams, or lotions to the treating area on the day of your appointment. If treating the face, please avoid using Vitamin A and other high strength topical creams 1 week prior. If you are unsure if you should stop using particular creams, we will be able to advise you.

Shave:It is recommended to shave thetreatment areabefore hair removal. Patients should do this within 24 hours prior to your appointment. Shaving prior is important as the hairs cannot be long or the energy will not absorb down to the blood supply. Long hairs can also add to skin irritation post treatment.

No morewaxing/tweezing:Put the tweezers away! A huge benefit of havinglaser hair removalis no morewaxing. Once you commence laser there is no more, waxing, tweezing, or epilating in between hair removal treatments. Do not perform any of thesehair removal methods3-4 days before your treatment. These treatments remove the hair from the root, and we need the hair connected to be effective for laser. From here, just shave if you need to remove the hair prior and during your treatments.

POST TREATMENT CARE

Immediately afterlaser hair removal, thetreated areamay appear red and bumpy. This is due to the heat from the laser and generally subsides within 1-3 days post treatment.

Please avoid:

Sun exposure, saunas, spas, and strenuous activity for 24 hours post treatment. We need to keep the area as cool as possible after treatment. Noplucking, waxing,or tweezing between sessions as the hair will naturally fall out during the exfoliation and hair shedding phase.

Avoid using prescription topical creams or vitamin A creams for 5 days post treatment if you have treated the facial area. As your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, always wear a strongsunscreenwhen outdoors to protect it from damage.

Effective hair removal with Alma’s SHR technology

While there are several different laser hair removal technologies available, none come close to the effectiveness of Alma Lasers’ patented SHR technology. SHR technology works by gradually heating up the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages hair follicles and prevents them from growing back. This provides a long-term, safe hair removal solution. Our SHR technology is included in our professional laser hair removal device, Alma soprano titanium.
Not only are our hair removal devices effective and safe, but they also allow for quick treatments.

The secret to painless hair removal
Our hair removal machines feature the ICE PLUS continuous cooling system which prevents burns and allows for a comfortable treatment. They also use our in-motion technology which involves a continuous gliding over the skin which not only acts to prevent adverse effects such as burns, but also ensures full coverage of the treated area. The improved coverage helps practitioners avoid unwanted results such as “Zebra stripes” associated with older hair removal methods.

Safe for all skin types
Most hair removal devices use only one specific type of laser wavelength. The most common ones are the 755nm, 808nm and 1064nm laser wavelengths. Each of these has unique characteristics and different absorption levels in Melanin.

But what sets our Alma machines apart from the rest is our 3-in-1 applicator, which is a core feature. This applicator combines the 3 different wavelengths into one safe, synergetic treatment.

This gives our machines the ability to provide treatment on all Fitzpatrick skin types from I – VI. Furthermore, our technology also allows our Soprano range to provide treatment over artificially and suntanned skin.

Making your treatment plan

During your consultation in our Skin Clinics, one of our highly trained therapists will discuss your hair removal needs and talk you through the procedure of laser hair removal so that you know exactly what to expect.

Every client has different skin and requires a different approach to removing facial and body hair. We will plan a fully customised treatment plan that outlines an accurate course of treatment based upon your individual hair growth patterns and needs. We will also discuss pre-treatment care and post-treatment care so that you can look after your skin accordingly for the best results.

Laser hair removal if you are pregnant

We do not recommend havinglaser hair removalif you are pregnant or breastfeeding as the risks andside-effectsare currently not known. Pregnancy hormones may also interfere with the treatment and make the results less certain. To be safe, stick with otherhair removal methods, such aswaxing, tweezing, bleaching, shaving, anddepilatory creams.
