Bruising on the skin, mild swelling, and a feeling of tightness or pain are normal occurrences and usually disappear after a few days. The procedure itself can affect nerves located near the veins, but these occurrences are much rarer than with traditional vein surgery. In this case, patients may feel mild numbness, tingling, or other sensations. In rare cases, painful scars or keloids can form on the skin. Other complications, such as infections, embolisms, and thromboses, are very rare. Most side effects, such as redness, groin or thigh pain, are temporary and result from the thermal effect of the laser. Pain is most pronounced 3-5 days after surgery, and all mentioned types of problems disappear within a few days following the intervention. Compared to traditional vein surgery (stripping), the mentioned side effects are negligible, meaning the average frequency and extent of these occurrences are much smaller, and the recovery is much faster.
